with that small plane crash in ft. lauderdale, florida. the plane carrying three passengers. abc's lisa stark has the story. >> reporter: this scene of devastation after the small twin engine piper plane smashed into a parking lot near the airport. the plane was engulfed in flames. cars were damaged and burning too. eyewitnesses say the plane had just taken off from ft. lauderdale's general aviation airport when it banked right and suddenly went down. >> looked out and i saw the plane just bank right into the ground behind the star light lounge and it exploded and then i kept hearing explosions. >> couldn't believe it. i was amazed how the plane went down so quickly and it -- the explosion and then the fire immedia immediately preceding it. it was pretty horrific. >> reporter: firefighters rushed to put out the flames but toofs fee late to save the three on the plane. this comes as federal officials are launching a new effort to reduce accidents involving private aircraft whichclaim nearly 500 lives every year. for "good morning america," lisa stark, abc news, ft. myers, florida. >> thank you, li

walmart tells abc news its employees did the right thing when they reported anthony and lisa daymarie to the authorities over these and other bathtime photos of their three daughters fearing the images were pornographic. in a statement the retail giant says "we believe our associates acted appropriately in notifying authorities, who then decided whether to investigate." >> it was a nightmare. it was unbelievable. >> reporter: that nightmare began in 2009 when they went to this walmart in peoria, arizona to develop family vacation photos. >> one is three of the girls laying down on a towel with their arms around each other and we thought it was so cute. >> reporter: the three young girls, the baby just 18 months old at the time were taken away by child protective services. but a medical exam showed no signs of abuse. and a judge ruled the pictures armless. >> i think everybody agreed there was no such sexual intent. >> reporter: 9 children came home over a month later. the damage was done. >> we went on to a central registry for sex offenders. >> 90% of the families out there in americ

. meantime, lisa, there's something else impact air control towers. what is going on with that? >> reporter: i don't know how often you fly out of small airport, one in columbus, georgia, for example, a metropolitan airport that may have to close its control tower because of the forced budget cuts. here is another one we are looking at in this video, an airport in hagerstown, maryland. as a lot of folks know, tsa is going to have to furlough some of its air traffic controllers and what tsa has decided to do is just close control towers in the smaller airport bus it's more than 200 of those airports could be affected. they are all on a list. this week is the decisive one. these airports have until wednesday to make their best case for why they should be taken off that list, why they should be allowed to keep their control tower open. then a week from tomorrow, fred, we will get the final list of which airports will be closed. >> all right, lisa -- >> i'm sorry, which control towers will be closed. the airports may be able to stay open without the control towers. >> thanks so much for that cl

an issue that impacts so many working moms out there, affordable child care. lisa sylvester has been looking into this for us. what have you found? >> if you talk to working parents, one of the reasons why a woman may leave the work force is because of child care. it can be incredibly expensive, in some cases families are paying more for child care than for their mortgage or rent. what do women want? how about affordable, quality child care. on weekends, becky makes sure homework gets done. during the week, it is their eu pair who does it. until they had the girls, ages 8 and 5, they had no idea how expensive and hard to find child care can be. when becky was still pregnant, she put her name on several daycare waiting lists. >> the wait lists were long. one place said well, if you give us a $500 nonrefundable deposit, you'll get on a priority list. when we finally got off that list, sophia was two years old. >> they looked at nannies. >> they pay $50,000 a year. >> if it sounds familiar, many parents have been in the same boat. survey by parents magazine found 84% found it challengin

'm lisa planning department staff. the item before you is the vial impact report for the project. a draft of the certification motion is before you. the definite was pushed on may second 2012. it closed on june 19, 2012. subsequently to the public comments document we noticed a minor area we would like to correct for the record. i have copies for the public as well on page 128 there's a footnote number 6 is erroneously struck through. in fact, it should have been shown that we're adding it as imply text instead of eir. and there's another error with the footnote so, please restore them in those two locations. having address the - the error found it the implementation of the project wouldn't result in any significant environmental impact that couldn't be mitigated therefore the commission would not need to adopt a statement pursuant to the california quality act should the commission choose to approve the project. we would like to have the consents of the report show they are adequate. and we want this to show it's okay. >> thank you. commissioners? >> i move to certify the error. >> se

who fly for a living and some lawmakers. lisa is in washington watching reaction to this change in security rules. so, lisa, why the change now? and who has a problem with it? >> right. okay, first, why the change now. the leader of the tsa says they have been studying this for years and that they figured out through that assessment that knives actually no longer pose the risk of breaking into a cockpit, allowing a terrorist to take control of the plane or to blow up the plane. so the tsa says knifes like you see here are actually not a catastrophic threat, and these are the knives that tsa says will now be allowed. they are knives with blades that are no longer than 2.36 inches and they are also knives that do not lock in place. so that's why the change now. who has a problem with it? well, for one, senator chuck schumer of new york. add news conference today urging the tsa to change its mind. he said if it didn't, he might try to make them. >> if the tsa refuses to go along we would consider legislation and my guess is it would be large bipartisan support. i don't know anybody
